'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

BLOG TOUR: Character Q&A with Jessie Jefferson

Hey guys! Today we have the lovely Jessie Jefferson accompanied by Paige Toon on the blog to answer a few questions. Hope you enjoy.

Welcome back! For all of the new fans, tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi, I’m Jessie Pickerill and I’m 15. Some people have started to call me Jessie Jefferson because my biological dad is Johnny Jefferson, the famous rock star. I don’t know. I struggle with that a bit because it feels disloyal to my mum, who died earlier this year. It’s probably best that I don’t talk about that if you don’t want me to get upset.

You've had one hell of a summer. How was getting used to being Johnny Jefferson’s daughter?

Are you kidding? I haven’t got used to it! I can’t imagine I ever will. It totally freaks me out – in a good way, most of the time…

What was your favourite thing about being in LA?

Getting to know Johnny and my little half-brothers, Phoenix and Barney. They’re so, so cute! And I’m not gonna lie, ‘getting to know’ Jack was pretty head-spinny, too. Jeez, that boy can kiss… Sigh. I know he’s trouble. I really should stop thinking about him.

So, what’s the situation with you and Jack now? Will we find out more in I Knew You Were Trouble?

Mmm. It’s complicated, really complicated. I do still fancy him – I mean, how could I not? But I really, really like Tom. He’s so lovely and gorgeous and he wouldn’t mess me around. It’s crazily confusing.

What do you think is the most embarrassing thing that you’ve done so far?

Erm, throwing up in a parking lot because I’d been drinking on an empty stomach was pretty uncool.

Sum up your latest book in a tweet!
God, it’s difficult to keep this to 140 characters! Here goes:

Sexy bad boy Jack or hottest boy in school Tom? World finding out Jessie is rock star Johnny Jefferson's daughter = the least of her probs.

Finally... the most important question of all. What’s your favourite book?

Wonder by RJ Palacio. Everyone should read this book. It’s about a boy who’s really badly disfigured and the journey he and his new classmates go on. Majorly uplifting. I’m about to start reading Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, too. I really think I’m going to like it.
